d.r.k (Derek) grew up in Seattle during the grunge era, and while a rocker at heart, was heavily influenced by the developing rave scene there. After attending the Art Institute of Seattle for audio engineering, he decided to move to Portland OR.
The progressive sound that dominated the late 90′s had him busting moves on dance floors all over including San Fran, NY, LA and Vegas. It was at the WMC 2001 that he was inspired to see what kind of mayhem he could bring to the table. He came back to Portland where he honed his DJ craft, holding down a residency at the very eclectic Red Sea club, and opening for such Dj’s as Doc Martin, Lawnchair Generals and Behrouz.
Currently residing in Austin, and excited that the scene is finally catching up. You can catch him at various clubs where his sets weave an exciting path across his chosen musical spectrum. Whether its a tough, raw and energetic tech house set, a dramatic big-room techno adventure, or anything in between – d.r.k’s mature, confident approach and depth of character is sure to get the dance floor moving.
